Gaba says it painsnot to be at Afcon
South Africa-based Flames captain Frank Ganadinho Mhango says it pains not to be at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon).
African football’s finest teams and brightest stars will take centre stage in Morocco when the continent’s premier showpiece kicks off tomorrow with the hosts taking on Comoros in the opening match.

But the Flames will not be part of the African football safari having failed to qualify.
Malawi finished bottom of their group, having lost six, won once and drawn once.
Mhango, who was dropped for the better part of the qualifiers by immediate-past coach Patrick Mabedi, said: “Most of our neghbouring countries will be in Morocco to showcase their talents and it is sad that we won’t be there.
“You talk about Zambia, Tanzania, Mozambique, Zimbabwe and SouthAfrica. They will all be there, we are the odds ones out.”
He said the tournament gives players a chance to showcase their talents to a wider audience.
Said the Richards Bay forward: “It is a missed opportunity, especially for the upcoming players who would have had a chance to be spotted by scouts and foreign clubs.
“It also feels good to represent your country at such a big stage.”
