Portland Cement cuts prices

Portland Cement Limited (PCL) has announced a reduction in cement prices at its Blantyre and Balaka factories, effective 11 January 2026, alongside a 30-day rebate scheme to encourage bulk purchases.

In a statement, the company said under the new pricing, the Blantyre plant will sell Duracrete (32.5N) at MWK 27,300 per bag, Khoma (MC5) at MWK 16,000, and Supaset (42.5N) at MWK 34,167. At Balaka, Duracrete is priced at MWK 27,000, while Supaset will retail at MWK 32,000 per bag. Delivery costs are separate, with the company advising customers to “liaise with your account manager” for transport pricing.

To reward loyal customers and boost bulk purchases, PCL has introduced a 30-day rebate programme running from 11 January to 9 February 2026. Buyers of 5,000 bags qualify for a rebate of MWK 300 per bag, increasing to MWK 1,500 per bag for purchases of 20,000 bags or more.

Supaset (42.5N) carries additional incentives, with the company noting that “Supaset (42.5N) attracts a higher rebate volume.” Customers meeting the volume requirements will receive an extra MWK 200 per bag, taking the total rebate to MWK 1,700 per bag for the largest orders.
