APM delegates 2nd VP to Sadc Summit in SA
President Peter Mutharika has delegated Second Vice-President Enoch Chihana to represent him at the 46th Ordinary Summit of Southern African Development Community (Sadc) Heads of State and Government Summit in South Africa.
Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation George Chaponda confirmed in an interview yesterday that Chihana will represent the President at the August 17 summit in Durban, South Africa. “Yes,” the minister said in a brief interview yesterday.

The assignment will be Chihana’s third regional engagement on behalf of the President since June.
On June 29, he represented Mutharika at the Extraordinary Sadc Summit of Heads of State and Government while on June 22 he chaired the Extraordinary Sadc Troika Summit in Lilongwe.
In a statement on Monday, Sadc secretariat said this year’s theme ‘Resilient, sustainable and inclusive industrialisation through infrastructure development, agricultural and critical minerals transformation in pursuit of a just world’.—Macmillan Mhone, Staff Writer
