Balaka based music group Alleluya Band will launched their new album Mbambande Malawi at Zitherepano Leisure Centre in Mangochi tonight.

Alleluya Band leader Coss Chiwalo told Chill that the 12-track album contains different songs composed by several past members of the band such as Sir Paul Banda, Charles Sinetre and Isaac Liwotcha.

“After being away from our fans for three months when we were out for a tour in Italy, we feel we should bring something unique. We have officially opened Alleluya Recording Studio with a new album where we have incorporated several artists who have been with the band all along.

“We will officially launch the album at Zitherepano in Mangochi, then Dedza and later at the Lake of Stars Festival. During these events, fans will be able to access the album CD’s and T-Shirts,” said Chiwalo.

He revealed that most of the songs message in the album focus on celebrating and thanking God for the conflict free 50 years Malawi has undergone.

“Mbambande Malawi is named as part of commemorating for the 50 years of Malawi independence. It is our responsibility as artists to expose the peaceful co-existence we are going through in our country,” said Chiwalo.

Alleluya Band left Malawi on May 26 for a three month tour to Italy where they performed 37 live shows in a number of venues including Flleto-Villafrance in Lunigian where they shared the stage with renowned Italian pop star Zuccherro Sugar Fornaciari to raise funds to boost health services delivery for Comfort Community Hospital in Balaka.

“We also had a special campaign called stop malaria and pneumonia in Malawi. We are proud that as a band we are part of complementing government effort of ensuring improved health service delivery in the country,” said Chiwalo.
