Blacks give a sneak peep into Kuyimba 13

Five years after they released their last album, Black Misionaries Band on Sunday performed four new singles from their upcoming album Kuyimba 13.

The outfit from Chileka in Blantyre used their show at Club 24/7 near Kameza roundabout in Blantyre to premiere the four songs titled Time to Come, Waliwali, Story and Amapilira.

Released four new singles: Black Missionaries Band.

Band leader Anjiru Fumulani took a moment to salute their fans for the support the group has received thus far.

“For 20 years I have been here and it has been down to your support. You have made me grow and I am now a man,” he said.

The show was a fundraising event jointly organised by Southern Region Press Club and Club 24/7. Although there were other events happening in town, the patronage was impressive.

Things only got into the real groove close to midnight when Moda Fumulani raised the curtain to signal the start of performances on the night. He set the mood and pace for what was to come and the patrons got a proper conditioning.

Against the normal tradition during the performances of the group, on this night Anjiru did not make any delays as he livened up things as soon as he got on stage.

He took the patrons on a music journey that started from Kuyimba 1 to the soon to be released Kuyimba 13. He did songs by the group’s founder Evison Matafale as well as his brother Msamude.

Supported by his sibling Chizondi on keyboard, Peter Amidu on bass guitar and Yanjanani Chumbu on backing vocals, the outfit kept things lively to the delight of the patrons.

Now came the moment people had been waiting for, the sounds of the songs from the upcoming album. Anjiru announced that the group was about to perform the songs for the first time.

The patronage responded warmly to the new singles and now their focus will be on the release of the album, which has been planned for July.
