Businessman Eston Kakhome has given Chigonjetso Community Development Organisation (CDO) funding to enable the interdenominational grouping meet the education needs of 42 needy children in Mbayani Township in Blantyre.

CDO executive director, Evangelist Linly Mbeta, on Monday said the money will significantly uplift the well-being of the beneficiaries.

Mbeta, who did not disclose how much the organisation received, said each child will have a budget of K28 000 per term catering for school fees at Hill Crescent High School, notebooks and pens.

“We are very grateful for the assistance. CDO believes this donation will contribute a lot towards our mission to fight poverty through the promotion of education,” she said.

The evangelist disclosed that Kakhome—who is also Alliance for Democracy (Aford) first vice-president—made the donation after experiencing the “power and love of God working in his life and business.”

Meanwhile, Mbeta has revealed plans to roll out a feeding programme for the beneficiaries and has since asked well-wishers to help them with resources.
