Blantyre nutrition partners praised for meeting targets
Blantyre District Council has commended nutrition partners for making significant progress in implementing various interventions, with most meeting their targets in the April to June 2026 quarter.
The council’s nutrition, HIV and Aids officer Fyness Kadammanja Maloya said this on Friday during a District Nutrition Coordination Committee meeting in Blantyre, where partners presented progress reports on nutrition interventions implemented during the quarter.
She described the reports as positive, clear and data driven, saying they demonstrated good collaboration among nutrition partners.

“We are happy with the progress because most partners have achieved their targets in different nutrition interventions,” said Maloya.
She said some gaps remained, particularly in timely data reporting and coverage of nutrition interventions in hard to reach areas.
“We call for follow-ups on action points agreed during the meetings and improved community level feedback to ensure that interventions effectively respond to the needs of beneficiaries,” said Maloya.
The meeting brought together nutrition stakeholders including Gift of the Givers, The Hunger Project, Project Hope Namibia-Malawi, IsraAid and the Department of Nutrition.
Project Hope Namibia-Malawi team lead Tiwonge Sakala said quarterly progress review meetings provide a platform for the district council and partners to review achievements, identify gaps, strengthen accountability and agree on actions to improve services for children and families across the district
