Chitipa MP aids youths with driving skillsChitipa

Chitipa Central legislator Fiskani Nyondo (Democratic Progress i ve Par ty) has facilitated driving lessons for 15 youths who have since successfully completed 40 days of training at Fiskani Barnet Nyondo Driving School.

In an interview, the lawmaker said the initiative, which has trained 30 youths in the first phase, targets to train 60 youths as part of fulfilling the 2025 campaign promises to reduce unemployment rate among the youth.

“After training 60 youths, we will start training motorcycle operators to reduce road accidents that are mostly caused due to lack of knowledge of road traffic regulations and observation of road signs.

One of the beneficiaries, Esther Mbeye, was all smiles after receiving her driver’s licence, saying to her, it is a dream come true.

“The lessons have equipped me with driving skills and knowledge on road safety and traffic regulations,” she said.

Chitipa district youth officer Pearson Malinda described the development as significant to the youth and commended the legislator for initiating the project the area.

“By equipping the youth with driving skills, they have become productive and employable,” he said.

Malinda said initiatives are under enabler five of the country ’s long-term development strategy, Malawi 2063 which seeks to build a globally competitive, skilled and sel f -rel iant human resource.

“To the beneficiaries, I would advise them to use the skills to become productive citizens to give back to the society,” he said.
