Medical Consultants Africa (MCA) Limited has donated 50 wheelchairs to Kamuzu Central Hospital (KCH).

Presenting the K4 million donation in Lilongwe on Friday, MCA chief executive officer Jonathan Bisnowaty said they observed there were shortages of wheelchairs at the referral hospital.

“The problem compromised quality of health service delivery, especially during movement of patients within the facility such as going for X-ray,” he said.

Bisnowaty said the donation will save funds at the facility which will be channelled to other areas.

MCA has also installed more than 50 medical imaging equipment nationwide.

“We are closely working with various health stakeholders to ensure we continue to provide exceptional services in both government and private sector,” Bisnowaty said.

KCH director Jonathan Ngoma commended MCA for the support, saying the facility needs support from different stakeholders. “We are expanding. We have a new children’s wing and a Cancer Centre that will be functional soon. We are, therefore, pleased to get support from donors,” he said.
