“We have confirmed with the Basketball Association of Malawi [Basmal] who have already engaged the International Basketball Federation (Fiba). We are just waiting for confirmation of venue and dates soon,” said Kalua

He added that the tournament in South Africa was a good  platform to prepare for the African Club Championship.

“For us to qualify, we have to go through national champions of Zambia, Zimbabwe, South Africa and others. That is why tournaments such as the one in South Africa are important,” said Kalua.

During the annual awards ceremony that Bravehearts Basketball Club held for its players, director of women at Basmal, Pamela Kudiwa, commended the club’s management for giving girls a platform to excel.

“We see your achievements and how well you represent the nation in international tournaments. We are proud of you,” said Kudiwa.
