The tournament, which drew top teams from southern Africa in both men’s and ladies’ categories, was dubbed Bravehearts International Basketball Challenge.

It was a close contest in the ladies category as Bravehearts Ladies beat Ark Angels 49-48 to emerge champions.

In the men’s category, Munali Suns from Zambia beat Bravehearts 65-56 to lift the trophy.

Bravehearts franchise chairperson Griffin Kalua, who is also the club’s coach, described the tournament as successful and fun-filled.

He said: “Congratulations to the winners. When we started Bravehearts organisation 10 years ago, we didn’t know that we are going to survive the way we have done.

“We have also made friends from Zambia, Mozambique, South Africa, Zimbabwe and many other countries.”

The tournament’s technical director Kuda Zvareva said the contest was exciting and that it was a platform to prepare for upcoming continental competitions.

“We have teams that are going to participate in Road to Basketball Africa League so, it’s a good platform for them,” he said.
