HTD Blantyre Sports Club (BSC) put home-ground advantage to good use on Saturday to reclaim the K200 000 (about $500) Vista Bravo Blantyre and District Darts League (BDDL) title.

They beat Luchenza 8-1, Tedzani 8-4 and White Eagles 8-5 in this round-robin format contest to earn the glory on nine points, six points ahead of runners-up Tedzani. Eagles and Luchenza finished third and fourth respectively.

Charles Katola, Henry Tsakama, Brave Chirwa, Robert Gongola, Juma Khamisa and the only female player Nasir Surtee were the ingredients of the formidable side that earned HTD BSC a fourth title in five years and a K40 000 (about $100) prize and miniatures.

HTD BSC is the only side that has won more trophies than any team in the annual competition that started in 2009. Elvis Freight won the title in 2001, but they did not make it into this year’s finals.

Tedzani’s Abby Chimbalanga emerged the best player in the day-long event after scoring two 180s. BSC’s Katola, Luchenza’s Davie Lodzani and White Eagles’ Rex Chisale also got individual awards for claiming a 180 each.

Khamisa of BSC also found space in the highlights for a game-shot at 112.

Coordinator of the competition, Duncan Karim, thanked the sponsors for continued support. The competition’s sponsorship is now K200 000 (about $500).
