Tickets for Blantyre Derby between Be Forward Wanderers and Nyasa Big Bullets at Bingu National Stadium this weekend, are selling at a discount through TNM Mpamba, Super League of Malawi (Sulom) has announced.

According to Sulom and sponsors TNM Plc, all mobile money ticket purchases for the match will have an average of  25 percent discount.

TNM senior manager (public relations) Akossa Hiwa announced the offer on Wednesday.

She said: “We launched this initiative on July 15 during the match between Silver Strikers and Nyasa Big Bullets at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe and we are happy with the response from soccer lovers thus far.We plan to continue with the e-ticketing option for select TNM Super League games, and we are confident stakeholders will support it for the good of the game, and its sustenance.”

According to Hiwa, Mpamba has slashed the tickets by 25 percent in all stands with open stands selling at K1 500 on  Mpamba  instead of the regular K2 000 at the gate.

The corporate box is at K7 500 from K10 000, VIP is at K5 000  through Mpamba and K6 000 on match day.

“The whole idea is to appreciate our customers and supporters and demonstrate that we are a smart network that enables them feel great about football,” she said.

Sulom treasurer Tiya Somba-Banda said the move will help curb shortfalls noted in the match between Big Bullets and Silver Strikers a week ago at Civo Stadium.

Despite the stadium filling to capacity, the match grossed K10 million.

“We are working with all stakeholders to seal all the potential loopholes, and we are confident that there will be great improvement. The reason we have started advanced Mpamba ticket sales on Wednesday is to minimise cash transaction on match day,” said Somba-Banda.

Sulom general secretary Williams Banda commended the e-ticketing initiative, saying it would help eradicate fraud.

“It’s also a prudent way of ensuring that resources benefit clubs and players. Let’s buy tickets through Mpamba to help our clubs and avoid long queues,” he said.

The match will be the first  league derby between the two rivals at the newly-built stadium, which was opened in January.
