Bullets replicasrun out of stock
FCB Nyasa Big Bullets replica shirts are sold out following the club’s CAF Champions League first leg victory over Dragon FC of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
In an interview yesterday, Bullets business development officer Kevin Moyo confirmed that there is no stock in their outlets for both men’s and women’s wear.
“Actually, we are getting new stock after we run out of stock following the win in Equatorial Guinea. It was a huge boost on the sales. We will get a limited supply due to issues to do with forex availability. We have ordered about 3 000 jerseys,” he said.
Moyo said going forward, they want to include children’s stock.
He said: “Currently, we are selling jerseys for men and women, but we are planning to include children in our next season’s stock. Our counterparts, mostly from Tanzania and South Africa, do supporter recruitment campaigns to increase supporters’ base, including merchandise for kids. A child, who wears a particular teams’ colours at a young age, grows up to be a dedicated and loyal supporter,” he said.
Soccer pundit Charles Nyirenda said he was not surprised that Bullets’ replicas have been sold out.
He said: “They are always aggressive on both the drive to register supporters and selling tickets and jerseys. At each match, they have foot soldiers doing this sort of stuff. And their secretariat is also well-organised. No wonder, they are now reaping the rewards. CAF positives are just another enzyme helping to boost their fortunes further.”
Meanwhile, Bullets arrived in Lilongwe yesterday from their base Blantyre ahead of the second leg on Sunday at the Bingu National Stadium.
Coach Kallisto Pasuwa said they are working on defending set-pieces.
He said: “In the first leg, we were two teams that didn’t know each other. It was more of a cautious game. We were sitting deeper and started attacking in the middle or third of our attacking. We mainly relied on counter attack.
“We managed to get the first goal through a set-piece and another in normal play. The second game will be different because now we know each other. We need to be careful in defending set-pieces. We learned in the past scenario where we won against AmaZulu in the first leg away and lost at home.”
Bullets rivals, Silver Strikers coach Silver Strikers Pieter de Jongh has since wished Bullets the best.
“I must congratulate Bullets on the away victory and wish them the best in the return leg. A win for Bullets in CAF Champions League is good news for Malawi football,” he said.
Dragon are expected to arrive today through Kamuzu International Airport in Lilongwe
