“So far we have not faced big teams in preseason as we faced mainly small teams. But now we are facing Kamuzu Barracks which is at our level. It’s a big game.
“They are very competitive team physically and tactically. It will be a good test for us and we will have a good idea of our levels of preparedness,” he said in pre-match interview.
Despite the preseason being affected by national football team engagements, Mponda said his side is ready for Kamuzu Barracks.
On the overa l l preseason preparations so far Mponda said national team engagements have caused some disruptions.
“We are into seventh week of preseason preparations but the national team took like two weeks of the seven. It is difficult to do preseason preparations when some of your players are with the national team.
“But still we have been working hard to keep players fit. We have also been affected by injuries but apart from that things have been going well and the boys have been pushing on fitness. So far we have been playing with small teams,” he said.
Kamuzu Barracks have a new coach in Nicholas Mhango who is also looking forward to the game as the league starts next month.
“This will be our first game in the preseason as we just regrouped last week. t’s good to face strong opposition in preseason.
“It’s a good opportunity to see the levels the team is at ahead of the season. We are looking forward to a good and exciting game against Bullets,” he said.
