Bvumbwe in last season’s Super League action

Relegated Bvumbwe Research FC start from scratch tomorrow [Saturday] when they return to second-tier Premier Division to face Nyasa United at BAT Ground in Blantyre.

Demoted to the K5 million Peter Mutharika Southern Region Football League (SRFL) just after a Super League season, Bvumbwe team manager Richard Lister has refused to put his charges under pressure.

“We have lost all but three players from last season’s squad that campaigned in the Super League; so, we are more concerned about building the foundation than thinking about promotion,” Lister said on Thursday.

“We are lucky that we had a reserve side that was campaigning in Division One and these are the players that have formed the core of our new-look side. Resources permitting, we can sneak into the Super League, but that is not our concern now.”

Therefore, when meeting Nyasa who are mourning the loss of their star midfielder Chikondi Banda, Bvumbwe will rely on the experience of survivors from last season’s squad Ben Mbewe, James Francis and Titus Banda.

Nyasa have experienced players such as Chisomo Kamlanje.

In other games, Polytechnic will be looking to continue with their winning ways when hosting rookies Ndirande Icons in an early kick off at the BAT Ground.
