Cadecom warns community gatherings
Catholic Health Commission in Malawi (Cadecom) under Chikwawa diocese has warned communities against gatherings in the face of Covid-19 pandemic.
Cadecom secretary Lewis Ng’oma said this on Sunday during a media briefing in the district.
He said many people in remote areas were still attending community gatherings such as weddings, funerals and initiation ceremonies without following Covid-19 precautionary measures.
“We are worried with this doing business as usual amid the pandemic,” he said.
Meanwhile, Catholic diocese of Chikwawa has made wearing of masks mandatory to its members in its churches during masses.
In a letter issued on Sunday signed by the diocese’s bishop Peter Musikuwa, the diocese is expected to hire two tailors in each parish to make face masks, which will be sold at an affordable price and distributed to those who cannot afford to buy.
