Chakwera launches campaign, manifesto in Eastern Region

President Lazarus Chakwera has launched the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) campaign in the Eastern Region with a call for Malawians to re-elect him in the September 16 General Election.

Speaking at Mangochi Stadium, Chakwera, who also unveiled MCP’s manifesto, said his re-election will ensure continuity of developmental projects.

Chakwera and First Lady Monica Chakwera wave upon arrival at the stadium.

“I would like to continue delivering the projects which my administration has been implementing across the country. As a servant leader, I seek to continue implementing projects in the next five years to uplift the citizenry,” he said.

Chakwera said his passion is to ensure Malawians’ livelihoods are uplifted.

He said his administration has laid a strong foundation for the country to develop extensively in the next cycle.

The President said his administration has strived to develop Malawi without tribal boundaries.

He said his governing style has always been unifying compared with previous administrations.

Chakwera cited, among others, construction of police houses, government offices in district councils, construction of classroom blocks including roads across the country.

He further cited women and businesspersons empowerment and said all that has been successful because of Malawians’ votes.

MCP secretary general Richard Chimwendo Banda said the country still needs Chakwera’s leadership which has empowered Malawians.

The party’s campaign and manifesto launch in the Eastern Region follows similar launches that have taken place at Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe a fortnight ago, in Mzimba, Northern Region last Tuesday and Ngabu in Chikwawa, Southern Region, last Friday.
