From the gross, about K16.17 million was channelled towards expenses such as security, ticket printing and commission, living a net revenue of K34.62 million.

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) got K24.235 million, representing 70 percent of the net, stadium owners Ministry of Youth and Sports received K8.655 million, which was 25 percent of the net while the Malawi National Council of Sports got K1.731 million.

Reacting to the gross revenue, the ministry’s spokesperson Macmillan Mwale said: “Revenue generation is an issue involving different stakeholders and as ground owners, we incur huge expenses to ensure that facilities are in good condition.

“There is need to explore ways to increase attendance and also strengthen revenue management systems.”

He said the gross revenue reflected the turnout “as the rainy weather conditions might have also played a role in attendance”.
