Two of the country’s female gospel musicians, Chigo Grace and Wendy Harawa have been nominated for an international award called Maranatha Awards in United States of America (USA).
In an interview, Chigo Grace said she was grateful to God for being nominated for the international award.
“To have an international platform recognising the work I am doing is a milestone for me. Therefore, I am thankful to God,” she said.
Chigo Grace said she did not apply to participate in the international awards but her songs were recognised by the award organisers.
“All the songs play on international television stations such as Trace Gospel and One Gospel which I believe the recognition for the nomination,” said the musician.
Chigo Grace was nominated in three categories. Her song Better Is a Day was nominated for Best Prophetic Song award, her song No longer I was nominated for the Best Thanksgiving Song while Munoshamisa Mwari is up for the award of Best Adoration Worship Song.
She said that being nominated was a huge encouragement to her and an inspiration to keep her pushing as well as to be consistent in the music industry.
The Blantyre-based musician said the songs have received positive and encouraging feedback from the local and international audience, adding she is grateful for the continued support.
In a separate interview, Wendy Harawa confirmed that she has been nominated for two Maranatha awards.
“Yes, I have two nominations for Female Minister of the Year and Best Collaboration for my song with Guardian Angel of Kenya,” she said.
The artist said the nominations means she is on the right path.
“It is my mission to preach the gospel worldwide through music. This is where I should have been all along,” she said.
