Chiku Kanyenda passes Gaborone United trials
Chat was meant to be a personal Botswana visit has brought good football news for Big Bullets left back Chiku Kanyenda, who has reportedly passed trials at Gaborone United.
Kanyenda has since asked Bullets to release him to join the top Botswana side.
Bullets chairperson Kondie Msungama confirmed Kanyenda’s request which is subject to United’s formal letter. With the transfer window closed, Kanyenda can only join them as a free agent if the Bullets declare him so.
“He has been a loyal servant to Bullets through high and low waters with us so we have to appreciate and be ready to release him once we get written request,” said Msungama on Saturday.
Earlier, Bullets said the player had asked for permission to see a relative in Botswana.
When contacted in Botswana—through phone— Kanyenda refused to comment on the issue.
If Kanyenda leaves, he could be the second player to seek greener pastures after striker Diverson Mlozi who has signed for a Swaziland side Malathi. Mlozi left for Swaziland on Thursday.
