This is a record number of teams any district has ever registered for a local netball competition.
Last year, Chitipa also made history when it contributed 43 teams to the Presidential Netball Championships.
Lilongwe is the second biggest contributor with 44 teams (33 from rural zone and 11 from the urban) whereas, Mzimba comes third with 35 teams (18 from the south and 17 from the north).
According to Netball Association of Malawi (NAM) vice-treasurer Jane Kachale, the news follows the announcement of lucrative prizes awaiting winners.
District champions are set to receive K200 000 (about $500) first prize in addition to qualifying into regional finals whereas runners-up will get K100 000 (about $250).
