Blantyre CCAP Synod last week applauded government for working with the church in promoting people’s welfare.

Deputy general secretary Cliff Nyekanyeka said this when the synod was celebrating the Power of the Gospel Music festival at the College of Medicine in Blantyre.

“We appreciate what some Members of Parliament, such as Moses Kunkuyu, are doing like launching gospel trophy competitions in their constituencies. This demonstrates government’s commitment in promoting the work of God through gospel music,” said Nyekanyeka.

Kunkuyu said six choirs have reached finals of his competition. He said five of the choirs are from CCAP.

“The church and government serve the same people. As such, they should work together and complement each other,” he said.

Margaret Kamkwamba, Reverend Songola and Reverend Ngwale were recognised for pioneering gospel music in the synod.
