He said good business could only thrive if they were managed well.

Said Chapota: “We would like to ensure that the youth are not only sharpened but we should also change their mindset on how important it is to take the programme seriously.

“We want young people who are the beneficiaries and the guarantees of these funds to have the right attitude and mentality to know what they are doing.”

He further said the programme seeks to empower the youth to have innovative ideas to grow and create jobs and wealth for themselves.

One of the trainees, Elizabeth Teleka, who is Ezel Agro-Processors managing director, said she was excited to be part of the training.

“The skills acquired from the training will help me manage my finances, my team and my business well,” she said.

Zaluso Arts director of programmes Autiera Mtema said the training will help them accelerate their tourism business and be able to compete on a global scale.

“We will utilise the funds and keep track of our business to excel on the global scene,” he said.

The Youth Innovation Fund focuses on accelerating the agriculture, tourism , mining and manufacturing (ATM-M) strategy in line with the country’s long-term development strategy, Malawi 2063.
