Dan Lu tackles fake friends in ‘AMalawi’
Musician Dan Lu has condemned fake friends who love others only when they benefit from them and desert them once the benefits dry up.
In his song AMalawi, the musician says that he has witnessed many incidents where people seem to be close, but the friendships end once money is no longer available.
“I have seen this happen over and over again not only to me, but to a lot of people. People’s love and friendships are conditional and we need to be aware and choose our friends wisely,” he said in an interview.
Dan Lu said it is worrisome to see people abandoning their friends in their time of need.
“Amalawi is my last song this year. Of course I have so many songs lined up and next year my fans will enjoy,” he said.
The musician said though initially, many people thought the song was political but are now relating to the message.
“Ukamanunkhila perfume iwo ayandikila
Mkaliza galimoto, kumbuyo adzadza kale
Ukakhosomola, onse kuomba mmanja
Mmmmmh, life
Ma phone okhawo mkutu kuchita kugontha,
Ukangodzuka mmanja mwadzadza kale
Mmakwana biggy, tili pambuyo panu
Mmmmh life
AMalawi amakukonda zili bwino
Amalawi amakukonda ukubhebha, ukangoshota, balala..” goes the song in part.
The musician said though he has more songs next year, he has no plans to release an album in 2024.
