Prolific hip hop duo DareDevils say they are excited to be making a comeback on stage after almost a two-year break.

The DareDevils have been signed up to perform at the Maso Awards event slated for November 26 at Amaryllis Hotel in Blantyre in a gig billed as a tribute to fallen rap star Martse.

Maso Awards organisers unveiled the partnership with the DareDevils on Friday during an event which took place at Amaryllis Hotel.

A member of the duo, Graiton Pasanje, popularly known as GD, said it has been years since they held a live act and they are excited with the opportunity to reunite with their fans again. He said their fans should brace for a new experience during the show.

“We are rehearsing with a live band. We are hopeful that by the time of the show, they would have mastered the sound. We are very eager to give our fans a live concert experience,” he said.

Another member of the duo, Marcus Pasanje said they had initially planned their comeback for next year, but they could not miss the opportunity to pay tribute Martse, whom he described as a brother.

He said: “The terms we have agreed with Maso Awards are good. We rarely perform and we had planned our return for next year. But when this opportunity beckoned, we could not say no. It is a special moment for us to pay tribute to Martse.”

Maso Awards director Augustine Mukisi said the opportunity to expand their platform was too good to ignore, hence their decision to bring the music act on board.

He said the DareDevils have a unique profile and they will add a new feel to their event.

“Like we said, we want to expand our scope so we can reach out to many art facets. The wards this year will be all-encompassing and the coming in of the DareDevils will certainly spice up the event. We will make more announcements as the day draws close,” he said.
