Dedza Dynamos staged a comeback from 1-0 down to force a one-all draw in  regulation time before booting  Moyale Barracks out of the FDH Cup in a penalty shootout yesterday at Dedza Stadium.

Dedza are into FDH Cup semi-finals following the 3-2 victory and will face FCB Nyasa Bullets who survived Extreme FC scare on Saturday at Civo Stadium in Lilongwe.

In another match, Mighty Mukuru Wanderers forced Zingwangwa United to out of the FDH Cup in the round of 16 following a 4-1 victory at Kamuzu Stadium yesterday. The Nomads will face Santhe Admarc in the quarter-finals.

In Dedza, Moyale scored first through striker Gasten Simkonda just 10 minutes into the first half, but Limbani Phiri equalised in the 32nd minute through a penalty.

Both teams made changes in the second half, but that did not change the scoreline as regulation time ended one-one. Dedza progressed as they converted three against Moyale’s two penalties.

Dedza coach Gilbert Chirwa said it was a good game which they could have won in regulation time.

“The past two weeks we have been training our boys to take penalties and we were so confident that we will progress. Our goalkeeper saved two penalties,” he said.

Moyale coach said they were unfortunate to miss penalties, saying his side was not good enough to stop Dedza.

“We created a lot of chances, made good crosses but we were unfortunate not to score, come penalties we were out,” he said.

In Blantyre, Wanderers found it easy when they faced little known Zingwangwa United who conceded three goals in the first 20 minutes through Gaddie Chirwa’s goal and Chiukepo Msowoya’s brace. First half ended 3-0 to Wanderers.

In the second half, Zingwangwa made changes but they found it difficult to have a shot on goal.

Nomads had plenty of chances with Francis Mkonda missing five in the six-yard box, but he corrected his mistakes in the 74th minute when he scored a fourth from Robin Ngalande’s assist.

Zingwangwa were awarded a penalty after captain Stanly Sanudi handled the ball and it was Mwai Banda who scored a consolation goal.

Wanderers coach Mark Harrison said his charges missed a lot of opportunities. “We could even have scored 15 goals with Mkonda missing six goals alone,” he said.

Zingwangwa coach Sizzo Dida said Wanderers are a big side and it was difficult for them to win.

“We tried, but it was not possible, Wanderers are a big side and it was difficult to contain the pressure,” he said.
