Dowa Medicals player tears red card apart
A Chipiku Lilongwe and Districts Football League (LDFL) premiership match between Nkhotakota United and Dowa Medicals ended prematurely on Wednesday.
According to the referee Philip Mkomela’s report, a Dowa Medicals player, Allie Yassin, tore apart a red card when he was given marching orders in the 63rd minute following a second bookable offence.
“The game ended prematurely due to misconduct by a Dowa Medicals player Allie Yassin. He snatched a red card after I showed it to him and tore it into three pieces. So, I ended the game because I couldn’t continue with only one card [yellow card],” he said.
LDFL fixtures secretary Edmund Msokera described the development as unhealthy to the sport.
He said the league’s disciplinary committee will meet soon to determine the way forward.
