Robbers last week ransacked and stole equipment worth K2.75 million at one of Lilongwe’s trendy drinking joints, The Jazz Cafe.

Owner, Owen Mbilizi has confirmed the development saying the cafe has since been temporarily closed.

“We had a break-in on Wednesday night. The thugs came through the window and went away with two Rolland guitar amplifiers, one Mackie mixer, one fender passport PA system, a DVD/CD player, Panasonic surround system as well as a Panasonic overhead projector,” explained Mbilizi.

He said he is not giving up providing a difference to  Malawi’s night life.

“We should be re-opening soon but I am not sure when. We will put a notice that says when we are back. Of course this has happened at a time when business was up to its best due to the overwhelming response from the public,” explained Mbilizi.

According to Mbilizi he is offering a reward for any information that might lead to the recovery of the stolen equipment as there is nothing yet from the police.
