Mumba then welcomed Munthali, saying the joining of new members signifies regained trust among people which is a good sign that the party can form the next government.
On his part, Munthali said he decided to stand as a parliamentarian for the newly demarcated Mzimba Perekezi Constituency which is around Mzimba Boma after noting that previous members of Parliament failed to develop the area.
“If there is a place with poor roads, it is Mzimba Boma. I am contesting because when I win, I will initiate development projects that can uplift the people,” he said.
Group village head Kafoteka Mkandawire commended Munthali for showing interest to contest and urged him to develop the constituency.
Munthali will contest against David Nyirenda during primaries.
The party has set nomination fees for parliamentary aspirants at K500 000, but women and youths will pay K250 000.
