The former governing Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) has warned one of its members Ken Msonda to stop attacking party leader Peter Mutharika and administrative secretary Francis Mphepo over party matters.

DPP spokesperson Shadric Namalomba said in a statement released yesterday that the party was shocked with Msonda’s endless “disparaging and outrageous” allegations against the party and its leadership.

Namalomba: We are shocked with Msonda

Besides warning to take unspecified action against him, the party said Msonda was not a member of the national governing council (NGC).

But Msonda, who claims to be deputy director of research and training in the party, said in an interview he will not bow down to Namalomba’s threats as what he was advocating for is based on matters of good governance.

Warned: Msonda (C)

Last week, Msonda and DPP deputy director of operations Joe Nyirongo held a press briefing in Mzuzu where they called for the suspension of Mphepo whom they accused of misleading the party. He claimed that Mphepo was deliberately working to have more people in the NGC that support former Reserve Bank of Malawi governor Dalitso Kabambe’s bid for the party’s presidency at the July 2023 DPP convention.
