Dry spell might cause floods- MET
The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services says the current prolonged dry spells in the country might trigger floods in the last half of the season.
Public relations officer for the department Ellina Kululanga has since warned that the country might experience above normal rainfall mid-season which might lead to flooding in some areas.
“The atmosphere keeps memory of everything; and because of the current dry spell, Malawi might experience above normal rainfall in the last half of the season which might trigger floods,” said Kululanga.
She however said some areas in the Southern Region might start receiving rains over the weekend while the dry spell will persist in some areas.
