Early Christmas for children in Salima

Children from vulnerable households in Senga Bay, Salima have something to look forward to this Christmas as Children’s Festive Lunch Event with other partners have organised a luncheon for them.

In a statement, Children ‘sFestive Lunch Event said the lunches are meant to celebrate Christmas with children who may have challenges enjoy the day due to economic challenges.

Persons with albinism during a special lunch at Benga Parish

It reads: “We make a sumptuous and nutritious festive lunch for these children to have a memorable and eventiful festive season as well as hand out Christmas gifts and donations.”

The children will be drawn from Chikondi Chimodzi Childcare, Khunyumba Trust and All Angels Primary Schools.

In a separate interview, Children Festive Lunch Event founder Sharmila Elias said she wants to encourage a spirit of sharing.

“I want to share a positive memory to people who do not usually have festive celebrations,” she said. 

Elias disclosed that they serve lunch to children at Safari Beach Lodge in Senga Bay on December 5.

 “It has been four years of organising these special events. This year we started with lunch for persons with albinism on November 20 at Benga Parish in Nkhotakota,” she said.

Special presidential adviser on persons with disabilities Overstone Kondowe attended the event and commended the organisers for it.

Children Festive Lunch Event partners Senga Bay, Benga Parish, Cool Drop, Aquapure, and individual well-wishers.
