Lilongwe revellers will this month enjoy a Phungwe musical bash, courtesy of entertainment outfit, Entertainers Promotions.

The firm has teamed up with Carlsberg Malawi to host artists like Black Missionaries, Lucius Banda and his Zembani Band, Armstrong, Piksy and Biriwiri, Skeffa Chimoto and the Real Sounds, Symon and Kendall, Sally Nyundo and youngsters such as Mafunyeta at Mungo Park in Lilongwe on August 31.

“This is a must watch show for all Lilongwe fun lovers since it is the first of its kind in the capital city. And again, for the Lilongwe groups, it will be their first time to perform on a big stage and [using] equipment. We are bringing the whole 55 000 watts equipment complemented by dazzling lights smoke and bubbles,” said Jai Banda the director of Entertainers Promotions.

“The show shall start at 6pm and come to an end the following morning. We believe this will be the biggest and wackiest show in Lilongwe this year! Carlsberg will do a promotion and give out one free Kuchekuche beer if one buys one. Entertainers Promotions will also give out T-shirts and caps,” Chirwa said.

He said they have deliberately incorporated young musicians such as Mafunyeta, Nes Nes and Chayicoon so as to expose them.

Banda said after the Lilongwe show, there will be another gig in Blantyre. Entertainers also plans to go to Mzuzu.

Carlsberg Malawi’s senior brands manager for alcoholic beverages Twikale Chirwa said the partnership is a result of the company’s promise of making Kuchekuche a beer for local music.

“Four months ago, we announced that Carlsberg Malawi has made Kuchekuche a beer for the promotion of local music with the purpose of supporting local artists and if one looks at the line up of musicians by Entertainers Promotions, they are local. As such we are giving back to our customers through this partnership,” said Chirwa.

“We are also looking at going to Mzuzu for a similar event,” he added.
