Epac FC are banking on their impressive TNM Super League record when meeting the limping defending champions Silver Strikers today in Lilongwe.

In an interview on Friday, Epac general secretary Roy Mdechi insisted that it was a foregone conclusion they will beat Silver.

Otherwise, both teams have nothing to brag about coming from a string of either indifferent or inspiring league results.

While Silver have never been the same since that Presidential Cup final loss to Mafco, Epac have been good, but not good enough to challenge for top five league position let alone have hope for a silverware.

Epac are on paper better, with their talisman Ishmael Wadi Thindwa among the current leading scorers.

Silver assistant coach Hellings Mwakasungula partly attributed their strugglers to a blunt striking force. Overdependence on experienced striker Rodrick Gonani mean that the Bankers have no option when he is marked out of the game.

Epac United will want to take advantage of a slump in form by champions Silver. The defending champions have dropped eight points in the last three matches they have played recently in the process slipping to 10th position from 10 games.

Epac have moved five places from 11 position to seventh after a 3-1 triumph over Mponela United last Sunday.

Silver has been boosted by the arrival from South Africa of their captain Lucky Malata who is expected to add depth in defence so as to stop the likes of Thindwa and Manyenje. –
