Gospel songbird Ethel Kamwendo-Banda has announced November 30 as the official date for the launch of her three albums at an event to take place at Sunbird Mount Soche in Blantyre.

The Blantyre show will be followed by two more shows, with the second taking place on December 7 at Bingu International Convention Centre (Bicc) in Lilongwe and the final one slated for December 23 at Squirrels Park in Mzuzu.

The artist, who released her last album Chete in 2010, will for the first time drop three albums at once. The package has Moyo Wanga, a 12-track album which was recorded at Grace of Victory studios in South Africa by OBK.

The other piece in the trilogy is Ndili Pa Mzere which has 11 songs recorded at Groove Magic Studio by Joseph Tembo and the last instalment, Tate Ndinu Oyera, a praise and worship album, which has 13 songs and was recorded at Innovation Studio by her son Peter.

Kamwendo-Banda has defended her idea of dropping three albums at once saying her singing is part of a ministry and she cannot limit herself by creating cut-off points on the message that God wants her to reach out to the people with.

“If you are into the ministry, the art of composing songs is not something that you sweat with. I am just a messenger so when the creator speaks to me, I have to relay that message to his people,” she said.

Her husband, Pastor Blessings Banda, who is also her manager, added that there is a close relation in terms of the messages carried in the three albums which made it even more difficult to detach them.

He said: “The first album talks about receiving spiritual empowerment, the second album is about receiving God’s blessings and the third is about rejoicing and celebrating the glory of God.”

The artist further said the launch of her albums will also act as a perfect moment for her family to introduce their son Peter, to the world.

“During my time out of the limelight, I have watched fellow musicians and I have learnt a lot. But this will not be my moment alone. My son Peter is making  in-roads into music. This will be an opportunity for music lovers to sample what he has,” she said.

So far, the Ndi Umboni hit-maker has several promotional songs both on video and audio format for promotion which are already receiving airplay.

The launch at Mount Soche Hotel will also include a dinner for those who will purchase VVIP tickets.

The tickets for the three shows are already on sale through different avenues, including online.
