FAM insists Pasuwa is in charge at Cosafa
Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has dispelled rumours that Flames head Kallisto Pasuwa is not in charge of the team at the ongoing Cosafa Cup in Bloemfontein, South Africa.
The development comes after the Zimbabwean missed both pre-match and post-match interviews for Malawi’s first match which they lost 1-0 to Lesotho on Thursday.

Instead, assistant coach Peter Mponda attended the pressers which are designated for head coaches.
Pasuwa also missed yesterday’s pre-match press conference for today’s match against Namibia and instead, Mponda attended.
On Wednesday, Mponda was all over the technical area, shouting instructions to the players while Pasuwa was rooted on his seat throughout the match.
He also took charge during the team’s preparations back home while Pasuwa was recuperating from an illness in his homeland after falling sick during the African Nations Championship qualifier against South Africa last month.
Pasuwa joined the team in South Africa.
But FAM competitions and communications director Gomezgani Zakazaka in an interview insisted that Pasuwa is in charge at the regional competition.
He said: “Pasuwa is the head coach and he is leading the team at the Cosafa Cup.
“He is in charge of everything, including training sessions, selecting the team and pep talks.”
The Flames will wrap up their group stage matches with a clash against Angola on June 10.
