FAM says World Cup tickets nowavailable

Football Association of Malawi (FAM) has announced that tickets for the 2026 Fifa World Cup are now locally  available for purchase through the association.

FAM said in a statement that those interested to secure tickets for the global football showpiece to be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico and Canada should contact its secretariat.

The statement reads in part: “Members of the public who are interested in purchasing the tickets are encouraged to visit the FAM headquarters, Mpira Village in Blantyre. The ticket inquiry period runs from today until Monday, 19 January 2026.”

Tickets allocation for the member associations depends on the level each participating team reaches with those going far  getting more than those knocked out in preliminary stages.

In the last edition, FAM was allocated about 250 tickets.

FAM competitions and communication director Gomezgani Zakazaka in an interview said the fans will be responsible for applying for their visas.

He said: “The association can request tickets from Fifa on behalf of the fans.”

FAM has also stressed that successful ticket purchasers will be personally responsible for meeting immigration and travel requirements for entry into the host countries.

“Football Association of Malawi will not be involved in any visa or immigration related processes. All successful ticket purchasers will be solely responsible for meeting all immigration and travel requirements for entry into the host countries, namely the United States of America, Mexico and Canada,” reads the statement further.

Fifa has also indicated that match tickets alone will not replace visas and that all spectators must comply with the immigration laws of the respective host countries.

The US government, as the main host, has also made it clear that there will be no automatic visa on the basis of World Cup tickets.

Similar arrangements apply in Mexico and Canada, where entry will be governed by each country’s existing visa and border regulations.

Fifa on Wednesday said it had  received more than 500 million ticket requests.

Meanwhile, the opener in Los Angeles saw tickets at between $560 (K900 000) and $2 735 (about 4.7 million) while Mexico’s in Mexico City ranged between $370 (about K641 000) and $1 825 (about K3 million).

The 2026 Fifa World Cup will be the first to feature 48 teams and will be staged across three countries, making it the largest edition in the competition’s history.
