FCB donates K6m computers to Mchinji District Council

First Capital Bank (FCB) on Tuesday donated two computers worth K6 million to Mchinji District Council to boost its financial transaction processing capacity.

He noted that the council has tight budgets that make it difficult for it to meet some demands.

“We want to bridge the technology gap that exists in the council and we felt compelled to come in and assist,” said Kadewere.

Receiving the donation, Mchinji district commissioner Lucia Chidalengwa said the provision of the computers will reduce the pressure on electronic financial transactions.

She said the institution is in great need of computers in various departments and decided to reach out to FCB for assistance.

“As a council we are struggling because everything now is going digital,” she said.

Recently, the council’s move to procure four computers pegged at K40 million was shot down during an extra-ordinary meeting because ward councillors and traditional leaders felt they were expensive
