Festival to provide local talent platform
Kabula Diaries will host Kabula Festival at Echo Park in Chileka, Blantyre on June 6 and 7 where artists will showcase their talent.
The festival comes after the institution hosted an orchestra performance by Eli Njuchi and an acapella show by Kelly Kay.

Kabula Diaries creative director Prince Chikweba said the festival will feature a number of activities and performances, including live music, art exhibitions, boat riding, poetry workshops, aerobics sessions and kids’ playground.
“We’re thrilled to bring together music, art and culture in a unique and exciting way,” he said. “Our goal is to provide a platform for local talent to shine while creating a memorable experience for our audience.”
Chikweba said they will take the festival to Blantyre to make it easier for people to attend.
He said: “We want to make it more accessible to everyone, especially those who may struggle to travel to lake shore districts.
“At the same time, we also want to expose the beauty of Blantyre to the rest of the country. We believe that Blantyre has a lot to offer. Again, we hope to showcase the city’s unique spirit and attractions.”
Echo Park managing director Nathan Chitenje said the venue is ready to host the festival.
“Echo Park is the home of nature and art, making it a popular tourist attraction spot. We believe that our venue is the perfect fit for the Kabula Festival and we’re excited to be part of it,” he said. “Our scenic views, beautiful gardens and serene atmosphere will provide a unique and unforgettable backdrop for the festival.”
The Kabula Festival will provide an opportunity for local businesses to showcase their products and services, with a number of vendors expected to set up stalls at the event.
With its unique blend of music, art and culture, the festival could be one of popular events on Malawi’s cultural calendar.
