FAM has failed to meet terms set by Cameroon and Ethiopia and will instead face Rwanda on August 14 which is a Fifa calendar date.

FAM CEO Suzgo Nyirenda confirmed that the Flames are expected to travel to Kigali next week Sunday, August 11 and will return home on August 15.

“The Flames will play Rwanda having agreed on the terms of the friendly match.

“The match will give coach Tom Saintfiet a chance to prepare for Nigeria in a 2014 World Cup qualifier,” read part of Nyirenda’s statement.

FAM was courting Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions and Ethiopia, but according to the association’s president, Walter Nyamilandu, they could not agree on terms.

“As stated earlier, Cameroon were willing to play us on condition that the match be played in Europe, but it could have been costly for us.

“Ethiopia too were ready, but they wanted us to foot all the costs, including accommodation.

“However, Rwanda were a bit flexible and that is why we have agreed to play them,” said Nyamilandu.

It is expected that Saintfiet will name his squad to go into camp next week in preparation for the friendly match.
