The Moroka Swallows striker said this when he featured as a special guest on Jambo WWE and SuperSport Social Corner on Blitz Africa.

Mhango: I want to play in Europe before I retire

Responding to a question on his wish from one of the hosts, the 31-year-old forward said: “I have now spent about 10 years here in South Africa  and I would really love to play in Europe before I retire.

“It doesn’t matter where, as long as it is in Europe.”

And in an interview on Saturday, the former AmaZulu. Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Lomontville Golden Arrows and Blomfontein Celtic striker said he believes he is still good enough to play in Europe.

“It might not be in one of the top leagues, but I strongly believe I still have what it takes to play at that level,” said Mhango.

The only time the Flames striker underwent trials in Europe was in 2018 at Portuguse top-flight league side Vitoria, but was unsuccessful.

In an interview yesterday, his agent Mike Makaab of ProSport International said: “Gaba is massively talented, but he needs to display that on a consistent basis if he has a desire to finish his career abroad.”

He has scored three goals in all competitions this season, the latest coming in a 1-2 loss to SuperSport United in a league match last week.

His most successful season was the 2019/20 when he jointly won the Premier Soccer League Golden Boot Award with Peter Shalile while at Pirates.

At the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, he was joint third top scorer alongside Sadio Mane and his superb strike against Morocco was dubbed goal of the tournament.

The goal was nominated for the Confederation of African Football Africa Goal of the Year Award.
