As per Christmas tradition, giving is one of the basic traditions it comes along with. With just a few days to go to Christmas, some well wishers have already started giving out gifts and special packages. Game Haven Lodge is one of those that have started giving out goodies in this festive season.

The Lodge on the 13th this month invited the orphaned children from the Jacaranda Foundation to tour the lodge’s Chimwenya Game Park as a special Christmas Gift.

Game Haven Lodge managing director, Greg Gange-Harris said this was done as a ‘give back treat’ to the community as they feel the need to share the Game Haven experience with the society.

“It’s Christmas and all we want is to do is offer a little something to people and to appreciate the support from the people and the corporate world in the ending year.

He said Jacaranda was picked as it is one the foundations that works with the community and felt the need for giving the children.

The children got to see most of the 10 different species found in the Park. Some of which included giraffes, zebras, the “big” 6 antelopes, kudu, eland, roan, sable, nyala, waterbuck and for birdwatchers, prolific birdlife.

The children were toured around the lodge with the help of the game rangers that took the children around the park and explained the different species of animals, what they eat and how they behave.

After game viewing for the children, they got to play in the new Children’s Playground, Mwana Park with see-saws, a climbing wall, round-about, bunny hops and sand pits.
