Inspector General motivates officers

Yolamu toured the lower formations to appreciate and make the officers feel that they are part of the Malawi Police Service.
She said: “The performance of officers in 2023 was splendid. Officers recovered 40 rifles and various stolen items in the just-ended year.
“I am receiving a lot of compliments from the public expressing their satisfaction with our work and I thank you for the feat.”
Yolamu encouraged the officers to maintain a good relationship with the communities and provide quality services to the public.
After addressing the officers, she inspected their staff houses to appreciate their living conditions.
Yolamu assured that the government was working on improving their living conditions, including building houses for them.
On challenges of mobility, she said MPS was in the process of purchasing motorcycles to be distributed to rural police formations.
In her speech, Eastern Region Police Commissioner Violet Magwaya thanked the IG for visiting the formations in Mangochi.
She also commended the police formations for maintaining a good relationship with the communities, which has resulted in reducing crime in their policing areas.
Mangochi Police Station officer-in-charge Assistant Commissioner Morgan Dzonzi encouraged the officers from the three formations to continue working according to expectations despite the challenges they are facing
