IntoSports donates K1.5m equipment to Flames

IntoSports, a firm that deals in sports merchandise business, yesterday donated equipment worth K1.5 million to the Flames towards their 2022 Africa Cup of Nations (Afcon) finals’ preparations.

The equipment included free-kick mannequins, cones and marker cones.

Ismael (R) makes a symbolic donation of the equipment to Alide

IntoSports managing director Shabir Ismael said he made the donation after establishing that the Flames did not have such equipment.

“I, therefore, felt it was important to help towards the cause as the team is preparing for Afcon finals,” he said.

Flames resource mobilisation task force chairperson Jabbar Alide, who is also Football Association of Malawi (FAM) vice-president and High Court of Malawi judge, thanked IntoSports for the “timely donation”.

He said: “We are in need of resources to enable the Flames prepare well for 2022 Afcon. The Flames did not have such kind of equipment, especially mannequins which help in taking and defending free-kicks.”

Alide also said they have lined up a number of resource mobilisation drives such as corporate golf tournament, VVIP dinner, corporate social football tournament, crowd-funding and betting.

He also said IntoSports is taking part in the golf tournament by sponsoring one of the teams.

“I would, therefore, like to urge other companies, organisations and individuals to emulate IntoSports’ gesture and help our national team,” said Alide.
