The once popular Blantyre based bar in the 90s The Jazz Cafe, finally rolled into action at its new residence in Lilongwe’s Area 6 last weekend.

During the launch patrons were treated to jazz tunes courtesy of Malingaka and the resident band, Just Jazz. Revellers danced the night away to cool jazz tunes till 3am.

Malingaka was the first on the menu and dished out the best the band is known for. Saxophonist Dan Sibale was in a world of his own as he dazzled fans with his skill on the instrument.

Then the cafe owner Owen Mbilizi was joined by Just Jazz on stage and took his maiden patrons on a rollercoaster ride of local and international jazz.

“It is time for Lilongwe to have a feel of a bar specifically for jazz tunes. It will be a live music entertainment venue specialising in jazz music. So we will be talking about jazz all the time here,” said Mbilizi.
