The 2012 Copa Coca-Cola champions Joyce Banda Foundation (JBF) on Monday leave for South Africa where they will participate in the World Cup Trophy Tour courtesy of Carlsberg Malawi.

According to Carlsberg Malawi senior brands manager, Titha Mblizi, the team will spend three days in South Africa.

“The purpose of the trip is for the team to experience the spirit of the World Cup. We are building excitement ahead of the World Cup next year. We want our champions to share the experience and get motivation to excel in sports so that they can play at the World’s biggest sporting event in future,” Mbilizi said in an interview.

According to Mbilizi, the delegation to South Africa will comprise 16 members with herself leading the team.

“We will have 14 members from JBF, including players and one official [president, Kossam Mphande] from Malawi Schools Sports Association (Massa) and myself. We leave on Monday and return on Wednesday. The trip is fully funded by Coca-Cola, including allowances, accommodation, food and air tickets,” said Mbilizi

Massa has since hailed Carlsberg Malawi for living up to its promise.

“We thank Carlsberg for giving the youngsters this opportunity,” said Massa general secretary Blackson Malamula.
