Malawi President Joyce Banda arrived in Austin, Texas in the United States of America on Tuesday ahead of the 68th United Nations General Assembly.

The assembly us scheduled to take place from September 24 to 28 in New York.

According to the programme released by the Malawi Embassy in Washington DC, while in Texas, the President is expected to attend a prayer meeting for 500 members of the congregation of three prominent Austin Christian churches, give a lecture at the Alkek Library Teaching Theatre for the Grosvenor Centre’s 15th Annual Distinguished Lecture, participate in a roundtable discussion focusing on how transformative partnerships are driving Malawi’s development, and at Texas State University at San Marcos, among other engagements.

From Texas, Banda will travel to Montegomery, Alabama where she will speak on women issues in Malawi at Rosa Parks Auditorium on September 20, before proceeding to New York for the UN General Assembly on September 21.
