Kamwendo accepts fate
Fired Creck Sporting Club coach Joseph Kamwendo has accepted his fate and says he expects the Lilongwe-based TNM Super League outfit to compensate him for the remaining 10 months of his contract.
The club yesterday confirmed parting ways with Kamwendo, assistant coach Abel Mkandawire and strikers trainer Chiukepo Msowoya due to the team’s poor performance.

The trio was suspended a fortnight ago before being summoned to a hearing last Friday.
Sounding calm and composed after the news of his firing, Kamwendo said in an interview yesterday that he expects Creck to honour the contractual agreeement.
“It’s them who have terminated the contract, Isn’t it? So yes, I expect them to pay me,” he said.
On his future, Kamwendo said his experience at Creck has helped him to be confident.
He said: “I thank the club patron [Apostle Clifford Kawinga] for the opportunity to lead as the head coach. I can only face the future with confidence.
“The suspension was a motivation, but now that I have been fired, it will motivate me even more.”
But the club’s board chairperson Muhammad Seleman in an interview expressed doubts on the prospects of compensating Kamwendo.
He said: “What I know is that he signed a performance-based contract. I think the contract is very clear on termination of services of the head coach.
“We will be guided by our legal counsel on the position of the team and the sacked coaches.”
Meanwhile, Creck Sporting general secretary Aaron Mtaya says the club has already started the process of recruiting a new coach to replace Kamwendo.
The club has already been linked with former Flames coaches Ernest Mtawali and Patrick Mabedi and Blue Eagles coach Elia Kananji.
Creck Sporting was Kamwendo’s third club after launching his TNM Super League coaching career as Mighty Wanderers assistant coach.
He then moved to Bangwe All Stars as an assistant to Mkandawire before joining Creck also as an assistant to McDonald Mtetemera, who was fired due to poor performance in November 2024 with 17 months remaining on his contract and is now in the Wanderers technical panel.
Kamwendo was then appointed interim coach for the rest of the season and guideed the team to a sixth-place finish in 2024 season.
In January 2025, Creck offered Kamwendo a full-time job and he recommended his former boss Mkandawire and Msowoya as his assistants.
However, a poor start to the season prompted Creck to suspend Kamwendo alongside Mkandawire and Msowoya on May 19.
At the time of his suspension, Creck had been booted out of the Airtel Top 8 by FCB Nyasa Bullets and were second from the bottom in the Super League with four points after managing just one win against Mighty Tigers FC, a draw against Blue Eagles and losses to Bullets, Mighty Wanderers and PremierBet Dedza Dynamos.
