Signed a five-year contract: Kamwendo (With the ball)

Joseph Kamwendo is officially a TP Mazembe player after the Flames midfielder signed a five-year contract with the Democratic Republic Congo heavyweights yesterday.

The player’s manager Felix Ngamanya-Sapao confirmed the deal, but kept a tight lid on the fee for the transfer from Liga Maculmana of Mozambique.

The two clubs agreed on a contract sale last week.

Former Flames assistant coach Ernest Mtawali, who is in touch with Kamwendo, yesterday said: “Congratulations to Joseph. This is a reward of never giving up. He is an inspiration to the youth and future generations.”

Kamwendo, who arrived in Lubumbashi on Sunday for the medical, could not be reached. He joins at Mazembe compatriot Luka Milanzi, who is currently on loan with Zesco in Zambia.

Mazembe are former African Champions League kings and are one of the wealthiest clubs on the continent.

Kamwendo will fight for his position against top midfielders such as Rainford Kalaba and Tresor Mputu.
